The day Bridgie left I was very busy - a good thing as I was so sad to see her go... :-( However... I was expecting three Bedford golf buddies to arrive the next day so after stocking up from Morrisons I returned home to do washing, make lasagne and a dahl with lamb! It was a non-stop day :-) Friday morning I drove down to Cape and left the car in the National Trust car park and walked home. The girls arrived about 12.30 - just two of them as one of them had had a family emergency which meant she needed to be at home. The forecast for the weekend was gales, and even storm force winds. It was wet and windy to say the least! But Friday afternoon was ok so after lunch we went down to Judith's wonderful home where they were sleeping. Judith and Carl were away and they said we could use their house - so kind of them, it is The Old Manse on South Place and is big and spacious. The girls, Annie and Jackie, decided they'd like a long walk so after taking in their bags we set off for the Cot Valley. We walked down to the sea - it was windy but dry. We then walked up to Carn Gloose and down over to Cape where we were glad to see the car. I then drove them to Heather's Coffee shop in Pendeen which is a wonderful place! We spent our evening playing silly games! | Saturday morning Annie and Jackie came up for breakfast and then we headed to the Minack. It was cloudy and windy but the colours were still good. I showed them Sennen on the way home and then it was down to the golf course. We couldn't play in the morning because there was a special competition on, so we started about 1.30. The weather was closing in and the wind strengthening, by the time we got to the 15th hole we were very wet and decided it was best to stop. We returned home to dry out and warmed up with my Indian meal :-) |
The clocks changed overnight and in the morning we were off to the golf course again. This time we managed to complete the course and on the front nine it was even dry but once again when we got to the 12th we had a downpour with fierce winds! We were determined to finish however so soldiered on.
After we finished we popped over to Penzance to get petrol for Jackie for the journey home. We entertained ourselves with Boggle and Scrabble in the evening, along with the odd glass of wine :-)
Storm force winds were forecast for the Monday and the girls had a difficult and long journey back to Bedford but they made it safe and sound. The sea was rough and in the breaks of sunshine was a wonderful colour... here are a some pics - you don't need words :-)
